Toxic to pets
No ASPCA entry found.

ASPCA index has only a genus page, "Oak (Quercus species)": toxic to horses only, gallotannin; no dog or cat statement. That is a whole-genus statement, not a finding for this species. Do not treat as pet-safe.

PlotAndPetal cannot tell you whether a plant you found can be eaten. Only someone who can see the plant can identify it.

Look-alike warning
Could be mistaken for Other plants with a similar name or look. To tell them apart: Match on the scientific name, Quercus laurina Humb. & Bonpl. (author as printed in Flora del Bajio and eFloraMex; Kew WCVP prints the author slightly differently but accepts the same name), not on the common name.. Kew WCVP also holds an Illegitimate record filed under the name Quercus laurina that points to Quercus laurifolia, a different species name; do not merge them. Flora del Bajio separates Quercus laurina from Quercus affinis by its ovoid (not conical) buds and conspicuous fine veins.
